Haaland OUT of Man City squad for Leicester encounter
Pep Guardiola does not want to risk with the Norwegian striker in the match week 14 of the Premier League taking place today
Erling Haaland was not on the squad list when Man City will visit Leicester City today.
Haaland was substituted early in the second half of City’s 0-0 draw with Dortmund in the Champions League in midweek. Pep revealed that the striker appeared tired and had problems with his feet. “I pulled Haaland out for three things,” Pep revealed after the match against Dortmund. “First, I find him tired. Second, he has a fever. Third, Haaland has a foot problem.”
Haaland played on the day of the reunion with the old team. Against Dortmund, the 22-year-old striker did not have a successful ball or a shot on target. Man City’ main striker looked tired look and Pep had to be careful with him.
Before the match against Leicester in match week 14 of the Premier League, Pep also admitted that Haaland’s situation had improved but was not sure about the striker’s ability to play. “If Haaland can’t play then I will use Julian Alvarez,” said Man City coach. “He may not be like Haaland, but Julian knows how to score.”
Man City can move up to the top of the Premier League table if they win against Leicester City in the earliest match in match week 14. The Sky Blues is only 2 points behind Arsenal in the rankings. However, the King Power Stadium team is also in high form. “Foxes” won 3 of the last 5 matches in the Premier League and only conceded 2 times, scoring 11 goals.
