Arsenal thrash Nottingham Forest and retain the top spot

Bukayo Saka left the pitch early due to an injury, but his replacement, Reiss Nelson, was the man of the match

It was a battle between the top and the bottom at the Emirates stadium, and the Gunners proved the gap between them and Nottingham Forest after recording their biggest win of the season by 5-0 in match week 14 of the Premier League.

Arsenal lost the top spot temporarily in yesterday for Manchester City (29), but the Gunners with 5 stars performance ensured they retain their position (31 points) and kept it till the next match week.

Things start Positively for the hosts as they led the game just after 5 minutes from the start through Gabriel Martinelli.

The only bad news in the game for Arsenal came in the 27th minute when Bukayo Saka was forced to leave the pitch because of an injury, such an incident caused a huge concerns for Arsenal and England as the World Cup is just a few weeks from now.

The first half ended 1-0 but the hosts increased the deficit to 4-0 after just 17 minutes from the start of the second half, as Saka’s replacement, Reiss Nelson, produced a man of the match performance by scoring two goals (49′ and 52′) and assist a goal scored by Thomas Partey (57′).

There were two years and 107 days between Reiss Nelson’s first and second goals in the Premier League, and just three minutes and one second between his second and third goals.

Arsenal’ captain, Martin Ødegaard, increased the score to 5-0 at the 78th minute.

Gabriel Jesus played his seventh consecutive game without scoring, but the Brazilian played important role in today’s game, as he assisted two of the five goals.

Gabriel Jesus has assisted 13 goals in the Premier League since the start of last season, the third-most of any player after Kevin De Bruyne (17) and Mohamed Salah (16).
