Verona 1 – 3 AS Roma: Volpato and El Shaarawy late strikes give the Giallorossi important win
Mourinho's use of substitutions lead the visitors for the win
Roma have secured an important victory at Verona (3-1), thanks to two late strikes from Cristian Volpato and Stephan El Shaarawy, that secured the victory for the visitors in match week 12 of Serie A.
It wasn’t the easiest game for the Giallorossi as they found themselves down by one goal after 27 minutes, when the Polish defender Pawel Dawidowicz gave the hosts the lead.
Dawidowicz himself changed the whole dynamic of the match when he was sent off in the 36th minute, to hand the visitors great boost, as they successfully draw the level at the 1st minute of the added time in the first half, through Nicolo Zaniolo.
Roma kept pushing in the second half searching for the win, and they succeeded in that as they scored two goals in the 88th minute and the 2nd minute of the added time through Volpato and El Shaarawy, the two substitutes that José Mourinho brought them in the second half for Cristante and Zaniolo.
18,350 – Cristian Volpato (18 years, 350 days) has become the youngest AS Roma player to both score and deliver an assist in a Serie A match since Opta started collecting this kind of data (since 2004/05). Solver.#VeronaRoma pic.twitter.com/UgCBjmSQVY
