Napoli clinched an important victory after beating Atalanta 2-1 in match week 13 of Serie A.
The hosts started the game strongly and break through Lookman in the 19 minutes after the start of the game, but the visitors quickly leveled the score by Nigerian goal scorer Victor Osimhen in the 23rd minute.
Napoli took the lead in the 35th minute by midfielder Elmas, a goal being assisted by the team’ star, Osimhen, to end the first half with the visitors leading 2-1.
Napoli maintained the lead in the second half to seal a 6-point clash between the first and the second in the current Serie A standings, with the visitors moving up with 35 points, while Atalanta’ stopped at 27 points in the second place, with the possibility of losing that position by the end of the match week to Milan or Rome.
Victor Osimhen was the star of the match, and today he became the historic top scorer of Serie A by reaching 32 goals in the competition, surpassing Simeon Nwankwo “Simy”, who scored 31 goals in the competition.
Atalanta did not win, but England winger Ademola Lockman maintained his good Serie A record by scoring his sixth goal of the season.
