Leicester ask to buy Van de Beek despite his injury
Manchester United star Donny de Beek has emerged as a transfer target for Leicester side amid their troubles at Old Trafford.
Man United have set a financial condition for Donny van de Beek’s exit from the Leicester deal
Manchester United will want ‘some kind of return’ on the £40m they paid for Donny van de if they want to unwind the losses, according to reports.
The Netherlands international has scored just four Premier League games in the two years since arriving from Ajax. Leicester are interested in the 25-year-old as uncertainty remains over his career at Old Trafford.
Manchester United paid £40m for Van de Beek again in the 2020 summer transfer window, when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was manager.
However, the player has struggled for regular play since then, making only four Premier League matches since then. Van de Beek is currently injured at United but at the start of the season he was left on the bench for matches against the likes of Brentford, Brighton and Liverpool.
Amid uncertainty over his future, Leicester have emerged as a potential suitor in the Foxes’ battle to stay in the Premier League.
ESPN says United want “some kind of return” on the £40m they paid Van de Beek just over two years ago in order to let him go.
With the World Cup in Qatar looming, the former Ajax star’s place in the Netherlands squad is not guaranteed.
