Golden Boy nominees … Shortlist shrinks to 20
Jamal Musiala is leading the charge to the Golden Boy Award for 2022.
The Bayern Munich midfielder is currently receiving the highest Votes in the race for the prestigious award of the best young talent, organized by the Italian outlet, Tuttosport.
It was revealed today that the shortlist for the 2022 Golden Boy Award is down to 20 nominees.
Bayern Munich and Barcelona are having the lion’s share, being represented by 3 players each.
The Golden Boy is an award that is given by sports journalists to a young footballer playing in Europe perceived to have been the most impressive during a calendar year where the nominees must be under the age of 21 and play in a European nation’s top tier. The last edition was won by Barcelona’s Pedri.
Pedri is already among the nominees for this edition, but it seems like Musiala may have a better chance with the pivotal role from the young player with Bayern Munich and Germany.
The attacking midfielder Played 40 games with Bayern last season, scoring 8 and assisting 6, an attacking out put that is going to be surpassed this season as the player already has 7 goals and 8 assists from just 13 games.
Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham may also has a case, as one of the best rising midfielders in the world.
the young Englishman is playing his third season with the German team, and he is just 19 years old, but his current performance not just led him to be a constant starter in the team, but also wearing the arm band to become the youngest foreign captain in Borussia Dortmund’s history.
